The Country Wife and The Sea proved to be extremely popular with school, college and university groups due to their relevance to the National Curriculum and undergraduate English and Drama courses.
Looking forwards to the final production of our season, we would like to offer school groups tailored events in conjunction with Marguerite. An Education Pack for teachers, providing background information and inspiration for workshops and lesson plans, will also be available to download soon.
From Alexandre Dumas' La Dame aux Camélias through to Verdi's La Traviata and the 1936 film Camille starring Greta Garbo, Marguerite is born of a literary and musical canon of work rich with educational opportunity.
Set in Occupied Paris during the Second World War, Marguerite explores the political and social climate those living through the Occupation had to contend with.
Marguerite provides invaluable material for those studying 20th Century European history, music and composition courses, and, of course, drama and theatre arts students exploring how text can be adapted from page to stage. This production is suitable for KS3 and upwards. With a selection of post-show talks and events associated with the production, Marguerite is a must-see musical for school, college and university groups alike.
