The Blue Room by David Hare, directed by Loveday Ingram and starring Michael Higgs and Camilla Power was followed by the critically acclaimed Japes by Simon Gray. This was directed by Sir Peter Hall and starred Jasper Britton, Toby Stephens and Clare Swinburne. Peter Bowles then starred in The Beau by Ron Hutchinson which was directed by Caroline Hunt.

Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith appeared for the first time together on stage in The Breath of Life. The Rat Pack, featuring the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr, followed. Also in 2003, Ralph Fiennes starred in Brand by Henrik Ibsen, which was directed by Adrian Noble, who also directed Rupert Graves, Samantha Bond, Prunella Scales and Joanne Pearce in Oscar Wilde's A Woman of No Importance, 110 years after its premiere on the same stage.
