SIR DONALD SINDEN
Sir Donald Sinden first appeared on the stage in 1942 and is one of our most distinguished actors with a string of successes in both the classical and commercial theatre. His extensive theatre work includes:
In London's West End: There's a Girl in my Soup, Present Laughter, Uncle Vanya, The School for Scandal, She Stoops to Conquer, Hamlet for the Peter Hall Company, Ariadne on Naxos for the English National Opera and, most recently, Quartet at the Albery Theatre.
For the RSC: Romeo and Juliet, Henry VI, Malvolio in Twelfth Night (tour of Australia in 1970), Henry in Henry VIII, Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing, Lear in King Lear (for which he won two Actor of the Year awards) and the title role in Othello.
At the Chicester Festival Theatre: An Enemy of the People, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Major Barbara and Venus Observed.
On Broadway: London Assurance and Habeas Corpus.
Most recently seen in the UK/Australia tour of The Hollow Crown directed by John Barton.
His television work includes: The Rivals, Two's Company, Never the Twain, Nancherrow and Judge John Deed.
Film work includes: The Cruel Sea, Doctor in the House, Decline and Fall, The Day of the Jackal and The Island at the Top of the World.
