SAMUEL WEST

Samuel West is the Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres and combines this with a busy career as an actor and director. The focus of this event is to be confirmed, but it will involve practical work as well as discussion and Q&A. samuel last gave a Masterclass 4 yrs ago.
Samuel was nominated for a BAFTA for his performance in the Merchant Ivory film HOWARD'S END, a role that brought him to the forefront of attention as one of our best young actors. His acting career covers theatre, TV and film. He is currently appearing in Caryl Churchill's A NUMBER with his father Timothy West, and past roles include THE SEA and ARCADIA at the National, HAMLET at the RSC and A LIFE IN THEATRE in the West End.
His TV roles include CAMBRIDGE SPIES, WAKING THE DEAD, LONGITUDE and FOYLE'S WAR. Samuel made his name in Howard's End, but his many other film roles include IRIS, NOTTING HILL and VAN HELSING.
He is eloquent and passionate about the craft of theatre and you can be sure of a fantastically informative, inspiring afternoon.
