The TRH Youth Company

MAKE IT HAPPEN!

The Theatre Royal Haymarket Company’s aim is to constantly innovate and turn our commercial West End playhouse into a powerhouse of challenging and exciting projects and productions. As such, TRHC has created a new initiative, dedicated to generating opportunities for individuals aged between 14 and 17.

Our primary aim, is to create a repertory theatre company run, administrated, managed and promoted entirely by the individuals taking part in the productions, supported by team of resident and visiting theatre professionals. The Company will provide opportunities for those interested in all aspects of theatre, from acting to stage management and wardrobe to sound design. Across the year, there will be a minimum of three productions, each directed and produced by team of professionals and each staged at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

The intention of the Company is to provide a vocational understanding of the roles in the theatre and demonstrate how a production is conceived and executed in London’s West End. The focus will be, at all times, on empowering the individuals involved to make the production happen, while receiving support from mentors and industry professionals for the entire duration of the production process. Each season of productions will consist of a mixture of classics, new writing and musical theatre.

The Youth Theatre Company also runs a Theatre Club which aims to encourage those taking part to see as much theatre as possible across a broad spectrum of genres and performance spaces.

When are the productions?
There are three productions in 2010:
Confusions by Alan Ayckbourn rehearses from the 30th January with the final performance on 22nd March 2010. For more information and to book tickets visit www.confusionstheplay.com
Production two rehearses from 24th July with the final performance w/c 9th August 2010.

How can I get involved?
Whether you want to be an actor, lighting designer, stage manager or wardrobe assistant you will need to fill in an application form and send it through to alice@trh.co.uk. At the present time, we are only accepting applications for Production One, however if you would like to put your name on the waiting list, please email Alice. Once we have received your form, you will be invited for an audition and subsequently, we will let you know if you have been successful.

There is no audition or registration fee, however, for successful applicants, there is a participation cost, as detailed on the application form. Our Chairman, Arnold M Crook, has kindly agreed to support the venture by offering a bursary fund to assist with the cost of the participation fee. Please see the application form for further details.
